About the Book

What if a spoiled prince behaved like the world owed him everything—and everyone else had to clean up his mess?
The Prince: A Story About Being Nice is more than a children’s tale. On the surface, it’s a funny and outrageous story about a boy who always wants more—toys, friends, attention—and who throws tantrums and blames everyone else when he doesn’t get his way. But beneath the humor lies a clever allegory about power, privilege, and the consequences of self-interest, echoing the ironies of modern American politics.

As the prince’s neighbors grow weary of his antics, he begins to discover that demanding, lying, and grabbing won’t win him friends or respect. Only kindness, honesty, and sharing can do that. Witty and thought-provoking, this story also raises bigger questions: what happens when leaders act like spoiled children? And what does it truly mean to be “the prince”?
